The Student Health Center hosts a consent carnival to teach students about sexual health – The Reveille, the LSU Student Gazette

The LSU Student Health Center held its first Carnival for consent on Wednesday, focused on being trained for sexual health and interactively. Situated through Tower Drive, Carnival Carnival was full of students, teachers and other members of LSU teaching and learning sexual health.
By partnering with numerous organizations and departments on the campus to make the event possible, the Student Health Center contacted students to disseminate information about sexual health and consent. By answering questions that it is sexually active, the Center shared information about the contraceptive methods they offer, especially for the birth control of students, and conducts free STI tests.
One of their tables was a condom that included a wide variety of protection, such as Glow in the dark, non-latex and internal condoms, as well as dental dams and flavored and unflava.

Carly Dilorezo, the Wellness Coordinator for the Student Health Center, wanted to host an event to “take a sexual health education, but to make it fun.”
“And what is more good than carnival games?” Dilorezo asked.
When he talks about consent, Dilorezo said that a lot of time people are not fully aware of what it is, explaining that the consent is wider than just yes.
“There are non -verbal signals,” Dilorezo said, “There are verbal signals like saying yes, but that is also a context and I really want [students] Knowing what is related to consent – how it is continuing, reversible – and just they are educated on it so that they can make sure they receive and agree. “
One group that disseminated information about consent was the feminists of student organizations in action. Amanda Mia, Junior Anthropology and Director of FIA’s volunteering and engagement, shared information, spoke of reproductive care and offered protection.
Meaux said that some of the most important things FIA does is provide access to resources and teach people about sexual health, including the dispel of misconceptions about consent.
“When people say,” No means no, “it can also be,” I’m not sure, “” I don’t know, “Mea explained, saying that if there is no” 100% enthusiasm “, there is no agreement.
There was a white board at the table asking the question: “What is an example of requesting/consent?” Some of the answers were “orally saying” yes “while sober,” check in the middle, not just the beginning “,” Yes You are comfortable with what is happening “and” authentic yes “.
The order of the carnival tents was housed other organizations and games with trifles for sexual health. Tower Drive was full of students waiting to play the games.
The student government was holding an ax where students could throw wasps, answering questions about trivos if they land the ax on the target.

The Women’s Center, an office offering study spaces, products from the period and more sore sex products conducted a balloon popping up. For the game, students would fight each other to blow their balloons first. After one popped up, the student was asked a little question to win a prize.
Campus Life had a game to rotate sexual health with trifles and rewards and throw a bag of beans with an interesting twist: instead of just throwing bags, the companion will read a connection situation and students will choose between a red and green bag, depending on whether The situation is red or green flag.
Dilorezo said she was pleased with the conclusions and that she was glad that many students were being informed. The next health center event will be on February 13 with Cupid’s consent to Tower Drive.
