The San Bernardino County’s Supervisors are looking for more relations with California, Federal Legislators – San Bernardino County Sun

With new legislative sessions in Washington and Sacramento, the elected representatives of San Bernardino County plan to work more with federal and state lawmakers.

Recently, the District Council of the Supervisory Authorities set up a Federal Committee on a two -year period, composed by the first district head Paul Cook, a former member of the Congress, and the chairman of the Dawn Row, who had previously worked on the Congress Congress Employees. The Committee will contribute to the efforts to lobby the county.

The new committee, which the Council approved on January 14, will allow Rowe to do some of the work it hoped to do in its first two terms as chairman.

“I was six weeks in the new zone for me before the snowstorm impact,” Rowe said, citing the Blizzard community, which devastated the San Bernardino Mountains Community in early 2023. Rowe was once in Sacramento as chairman of the board to argue the county’s point of view on the conservation of the Joshua tree.

“That’s it,” Rowe said. “I have not been in DC since I was chairman of the board; I haven’t met anyone. “

And there were things that the county wanted to discuss with its legislators.

In 2022, the voters of San Bernardino County weighed a measure EE, which calls into question whether the county received its “fair share” from the state and federal governments and struck the opportunity to separate the county from California if necessary. The voters closely approved the measure EE, but in 2024 a report gathered on behalf of the county showed that it was most recently obtained a proportional share of the state and federal funds. In some areas, however, studies show that the county may have been loaded without compensation from state or federal governments.

“Residents of the fire department pay for all the calls held at Federal Interstates 15 and 40, as there is no federal recovery,” the district spokesman David Wert wrote in an email. “Most of these calls are not for taxpayer dismissal services, but to people passing through our county on the way to or from Nevada or Arizona, but our fire teams respond to accidents on federal highways. Another example is the district search and rescue crews that meet the calls for missing tourists in the federal forest land. The sheriff (Shannon) Dikus has collected the costs and they are huge.

“The county has to do better work on sharing these examples with our federal partners so that we can try to get more of our” fair share “of reimbursement,” Vert wrote.
