The Basketball of the Douglas High School boys knew that he had an ascent on Tuesday on Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the 4a North Regional Tournament against Renault.

The Huski fourth seed had defeated the tigers twice during the regular season and were the hosts for the third meeting.

Renault managed to slowly step back in the second half in winning 68-53 for the Huski, which advanced them in the semifinals at No. 1 Spanish springs on Thursday night.

The Douglas season ends with a record of 12-13.

“The biggest thing is that they (Renault) struck big shots,” said Douglas Corey Taker’s chief coach. “They do a good job that attacks offensively.”

Early roll

The senior tiger Evan Tolbert launches the race with the first eight points of the tigers, coming beyond the 3-point pair line to open the game.

His third bucket came on a runner through the paint, which gave Douglas a lead by 8-5.

Noah Koyne helped the threesome to Douglas from Main and Tolbert to make Douglas within six, 47-41, leaving 3:04 in the third.

Douglas’s crime succeeded in eight points in the fourth quarter as Renault has receded in the last eight minutes.

Tolbert finished the game with team 19 points at shooting 7 to 15 with seven fights.

Taker ended his latest Varsity game with 17 points. Messik added 11 for the tigers in the loss, while Main had three points, seven struggles, three assists and four thefts.

Both Darren Kizer and Noah Kizer did not play in the regional competition on Tuesday night and were not on the bench.
