Salt Lake City – the remains of a man who disappeared more than 20 years ago when he was on his way to his family’s cabin, were found inside a submerged car in a Utah tank.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff’s service announced on Tuesday that human remains were restored last year by a reservoir in Dushne County, were identified as 46 -year -old Stephen Willard Anderson, who disappeared in 2004.

The Utah’s Medical Review Service and a private lab used DNA testing to identify Anderson’s remains. His death did not suspect a fake game and the case was officially closed on Tuesday after decades of insecurity for the family, the Sheriff’s service said.

“It was just a wound, which, you know, it has been opening in the last 20 years, it just didn’t know,” Anderson’s son, Axel, told Fox 13 News. “It’s good to close to the family and now I’m excited about the future.”

Anderson’s relatives said he had driven a rented vehicle to a family cabin in a blazing gorge to make a picture, but never arrived, according to the Ministry of Public Safety in Utah.

The former cold deed has attracted the attention of Doug Bishop of United Search Corps, a non -profit purpose that specializes in the cases of missing persons, and Dave Sparks, a Utah entrepreneur and the Internet personality. The couple chronicles their search efforts in videos posted on YouTube and started working with law enforcement last spring.

On September 29, 2024, United Search Corps opened a submerged SUV about 50 feet in the hunger tank. The law enforcement agencies have extracted Toyota Sequoia since 2001 and later identifies it as the vehicle that Anderson has rented. His family tells him that positive identification and knowledge that he is not suspected of unscrupulous game will finally allow them to heal.
