The Redlands Blue High School team has been named San Bernardino County Champions. The head of schools in San Bernardino District (SBCSS) and the District Prosecutor’s Office of San Bernardino County organized the competition at the San Bernardino Justice Center as 23 teams went with the title. The triumphant team is scheduled to move to the state competition scheduled for March 14-16, 2025.
“It is incredibly inspiring to see first-hand how students’ commitment to competition-inferior hours of research and rehearsals-allowed to distinguish themselves as a team,” said the Chief of the County Ted Alekh. “We hope opportunities like this competition will deepen students’ understanding of their civic responsibilities and to inspire them to actively engage in society.”
More than 425 students participated in this year’s County competition. The students representing 20 high schools were charged with the study of the hypothetical criminal case People People V. Gold. Competition teams conducted legal research and prepared strategies and convincing arguments for the test. The students presented their cases to a true judge, using amendments to the Constitution and legal objections. The roles included lawyers, witnesses, defendants, bailiffs and officials, led by local legal specialists who voluntarily participated in their time.
