Malala YouSafzai, the world -renowned defender of women’s education and the Nobel Peace Prize winner, revealed that he was a fan of the Birmingham city.

The 27-year-old was treated and educated in Birmingham after an attempt to kill in Pakistan when she was 12 years old. She visits the Edgbaston high school and has retained her ties with the city-and the football club, which bears his name.

Malala uses her Instagram account to post footage of himself in a Blues FA Cup collision with Newcastle United, a game that the home team lost 3-2, but one in which they showed the best of the rejuvenated club.

She explained how she became a fan: “In my first year in high school, a teacher brought me a gift: a T -shirt of the Birmingham football club. If I accepted it, she said, I could only support this team from that moment on.

“As I spent the first 15 years of my life in Pakistan, I was new to football in the UK. But I knew one thing for sure: in football, loyalty is everything – and I would make a lifetime commitment. I reached out to the T -shirt and the teacher told me: “The Birmingham team is called blues, and fans are called Bluenoses. You are now one of us – the Blue.

“It was not a problem until I got married to Asher, Newcastle United’s lifelong fan. “I’m sorry,” I told him, “but I committed to Birmingham long before I met you. I’m Bluenose ‘.

“Tonight, at last we had to see a match between the two teams! It was the most incredible and surreal experience. Congratulations on Newcastle (and Asher) who prevailed in an exciting match. Although I wish all the players well, I still root for the blue. Always. “
