The Nigerian man is extradited to us as suspected South Carolina teenager who died of suicide – CBS News

A Nigerian man has been extradited to the United States after being charged with the South Carolina teenager, who died of suicide, the Ministry of Justice said on Monday.

Hasanbunhusane Anulor Loaul, 24-years-old, seemed to posing as a young woman on social media and received 17-year-old Gavin Guffy to send him “compromising photos”, the Ministry of Justice said. Then Loal seemed to threaten to ruin Guffy’s reputation by expiring the photos unless he sends Lawal Money, the Ministry of Justice said.

Guffy, son of South Carolina, reporter Brandon Guffy, died of suicide in 2022.

Lawal has been accused in October 2023 on charges of childhood exploitation, leading to death, distribution of child pornography, coercion, and lureing of a minor to engage in sexual activity, cyber growing, leading to death and experience for blackmail.

“We will not allow predators aimed at our children to hide behind a keyboard or overseas. Today we honor Gavin’s life and continue our battle against sex, holding this defendant from responsibility,” said US prosecutor Adir Ford Boro for County South Carolina in a statement.

Lawal faces life in prison and compulsory restitution, in which the court can order it to pay for losses caused by the family because of its scheme.
