34-year-old Darvel Gray was riding his bicycle on S.’s military highway near the I-64 exit on Tuesday, when someone hit him and set him off, according to police.
Chesapeake, Chesapique’s Washington-Mother, desperately seeks justice for her son, for whom she believes she is a victim of a hit and running this week.
Around 6:00 pm Tuesday, the Chesapik Police Department called an early cyclist on the S. military highway near the exit of the West I-64.
Tracy Web said her son, 34-year-old Darvel Gray, has just left the nearby Exxon gas station on her way to her husband’s car company.
“He said it was suddenly that he heard some cracking and someone had hit him and he was flying and that’s almost that,” she said.
Gray suffered serious injuries, including his head and neck. He is currently recovering after undergoing numerous operations at the Medical Center of the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth.
“For someone to hit him and leave him from the side of the road to die, which was heartbreaking as a parent,” Web said.
She wants to know who did this to her son, a graphic designer, who she describes as a “free spirit, fun, dance machine for dance.”
“Everyone loves Darvel,” she said. “Thank God someone has seen him and who saw him and called 911, I want to thank you for saving my son’s life.”
Chesapiik police are investigating the crash, but they say there are no witnesses or video recordings of the incident.
Web hopes someone has seen something that can help track the culprit.
“Just, you know, say something to let us know in order to try to help we confront this case because it deserves justice,” she said.
She also wants to realize the need for drivers to pay attention to the road and look for pedestrians and cyclists.
