After more than 25 years in public office, including a term as mayor of 2021, Hialeah Mayor Esteban Bovo, Jr., announced on Monday that he would resign on April 27, 2025, citing increasing family responsibilities.
In a letter addressed to residents, city officials and municipal officials, Bovo thought about his time in service, celebrated key achievements during his term, and stated that the time had come to give priority to his family.
“The last new family responsibilities influence my ability to continue to serve as your mayor full -time,” Bovo writes. “Although this decision was extremely difficult, I need to support my family at the moment.”
Emphasize the achievements
Bevo pointed out a number of achievements in his administration.
“Hialeah today is one of the most secure cities in the United States,” he writes. “We have restored the pride of all who cooperates to provide services to our residents, as well as to those who have come to invest and create opportunities.”
Gratitude and optimism for the future
Bovo expressed a deep gratitude to the residents of Hyalea, his colleagues from the municipal council and his family, lending their support as the basis of his public service.
“I couldn’t serve my favorite city, if not for the victim and love of my family,” he writes. “Now is the time to regain their selfless support.”
He also expressed confidence in the administrative team of the city and chose the leaders, assuring the residents that the transition would be carefully processed and professionalism.
Bovo added that he plans to remain engaged in community questions and is eagerly awaiting Hialeah’s upcoming celebration.
“May God bless the city of Hyalea and the residents who call him at home,” he concluded.
