Mayor Randal L. Woodfin named Lieutenant Jacory Foster temporary deputy chief of special operations at the Birmingham Police Department. The appointment shall enter into force immediately.
Foster is a 20-year-old veteran of the department. He has served in various opportunities, including a patrol officer, a terrain employee, a shift leader, and is recognized as leader of the quarter in 2019.
As a member of the regional fugitive candidate on the shore of the US Gulf, Foster works with various state and federal agencies to reduce the crime of violence in the city, the state and the southeastern part. As part of the Special Performance Department, he manages the daily operations of the Vice/Drugs Division, a crime reduction team, the federal working group and the special implementation team.
Foster’s training and certificates include basic and advanced special weapons and tactics (SWAT), the national system for managing incident and undercover operations and fugitive operations. He is the winner of the FBI-LEEDA trilogy award and the BPD heroism and valor award.
A native of Birmingham, Foster graduated from the Uenona High School and won a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the Oklaland City University.
The position of Deputy Chief of Special Operations was released at the appointment of Michael Picket as a temporary police chief of police.
Foster will join the BPD Command Staff, composed by a temporary boss Picket, temporarily acting Chief Edmund Hanks, Deputy Chief of Administrative Operations Rhodarius Mauldin, Deputy Chief of Investigative Operations Jeffrey Brown and Deputy Chief of Patroll Operations Onree Pruitt.
