A 26-year-old man from Trenton, Davion S. Smith, was convicted this week on numerous accusations, including aggravated attacks and weapons, after his involvement in an incident with firing in August 2022.
The sentence returned by the jurors on February 5, 2025, found Smith guilty of all the charges referred to in the indictment, which included illegal possession of a gun, possession of a firearm illegal, aggravated attack and certain persons not to possess illegal fire weapons, aggravated attack and certain persons not to have an illegal fire weapon, aggravated attack and certain persons not to have a firearm for illegal purpose, aggravated attack and certain persons not to have a firearm of illegal purpose, aggravated attack And certain persons do not have a firearm for an illegal purpose, an aggravated attack and certain persons not to have a firearm for an illegal purpose, an aggravated attack and certain persons not to have a firearm.
The incident occurred in the early hours of August 13, 2022, when police in Trenton responded to reports of shots fired in a 100 block of Okland Avenue.
After arrival, the officers observe a vehicle, later definitely driven by Smith, leaving the area at high speed. Subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a .38 decorated revolver.
The scene of the scene was filmed by Smith, who fired the gun in the direction of another vehicle before fleeing the area.
The case was pursued by assistant prosecutors Michael J. Mennuti and Jeffrey K. McLwi Jr., who represent the state during the two-week process.
S Mercer Janetta D. Marbrey’s prosecutor praised the investigation led by the Mercer County Response Team and Detective Saray Saray Busa of the Trenton Police Department. Smith was represented by lawyer Andrew Zhewald, ESQ.
Smith was scheduled for a sentence on April 4, 2025 and he was confronted with a potential sentence of up to 30 years in prison.
This prolonged sentence is possible due to Smith’s admissibility under New Jersey’s Sustainable Law, NJSA 2C: 44-3A, based on its previous criminal record.
