A Trenton man has been found guilty of numerous accusations, including an aggravated attack and illegal possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting, which took place in August 2022.

After a two-week process, Mercer’s jury condemned 26-year-old Davion S. Smith on February 5, 2025 on all the charges listed in the indictment.

These include illegal possession of a gun, possession of a firearm for illegal purpose, aggravated attack and some persons not to have a firearm, according to information published by Mercer Janet D. Martrri District.

The allegations stemmed from an incident on August 13, 2022, when police in Trenton reacted around 1:30 in the morning to reports of a 100 block of Okland Avenue.

Employees arriving at the scene have noticed a vehicle that accelerates. The driver, later identified as Smith, was drawn and a search of his car led to the discovery of a refuted revolver with a .38 caliber.

Observation footage from the area later confirmed that Smith had fired a gun towards another vehicle before escaped.

The case was persecuted by an assistant -the prosecutors of Mercer Michael J. Mennuti and Jeffrey K. McLwie, Jr., with the trial conducted before the judge of the Merry Darlin Supreme Court Judge J. Pereksta.

Smith is planned to be sentenced on April 4, 2025 and may be up to 30 years in prison.

Its eligibility for a prolonged sentence falls within the Statute of the “Sustainable Violator” of New Jersey, which is applied to recurring violators with previous sentences.
