A long -time family Mexican restaurant said goodbye after serving Alam City for decades. The Mexican restaurant of Gilbert was announced on Friday. January 24 via Facebook that it will close its doors after this weekend.
Gilbert’s, located at 8138 Marbach Road, Suite 102, San Antonio, Texas 78227, was created in 1982 by Tejano legend Gilbert Rodriguez. The family restaurant is home to the famous “Javi Special” and continues to maintain the family tradition of “warm hospitality” under the ownership of Ashley Rodriguez Erera, according to the Facebook restaurant page.
Erera, a second -generation owner of the Mexican restaurant of Gilbert, shared the news, thanking both the “incredible team” of business and the “loyal customers”. The Far Westside restaurant has served Mexican cuisine in San Antonio for over 40 years, and although its doors are closing, “the memories we have created will live forever,” according to Facebook.
“This restaurant has always been more than just a business. He was a home, “Eerera said. “Families gathered here, celebrations were held and generations shared food together.”
Devin Ray, the manager of the Mexican restaurant of Gilbert, posted a statement under the Facebook publication, sharing his gratitude and reflection, while the long -standing restaurant is preparing to say goodbye. He thanked Erera that he had trusted him to run the family restaurant and that he had risked him. Ray said this opportunity allows him to learn and grow.
“In the past year, I literally poured blood, sweat and tears – and so much of my time and heart – in this restaurant. It was one of the greatest honors in my life, “Ray said. “To be part of this place, to help transfer his inheritance and to work with such an incredible team and community is nothing but exceptional.”
The Mexican restaurant of Gilbert invites the community to go out and show some support over its last weekend when it is open. The doors are open on Saturday from 8am to 8pm and on Sunday from 8am until the seats are exhausted, according to Facebook.
“There are no words for our loyal customers to express how much you mean your love and support to us over the years,” Erera said. “You don’t just go through our doors. You bring your stories, laughter and life with yourself. You made it all worth it.
