The Links Inc. Celebrates Black History Month through Literature – Wibw

Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) – February marks the official start of the month of black history, a time for reflection and worshiping the role of black Americans in the history of our country.

At the Topeka and Shawnee County Library, the head of the topeka of the links, included the occasion with its annual African American reading.

“I think it is really important for students to have someone who looks like reading books for you for people who look like you and immerse themselves in these authors and these stories,” says Marie Carter, co -chair of the services of young people.

The event, which has been held for several decades, is intended to promote literacy and to train the meaning of the month of black history.

“We are always on our devices, but we still have books. We still have resources and things that we could interact with, so we really wanted to promote this, “said Monis Crawford, President of Topeka’s head.

People of all ages gathered to read works by black authors and participated in a cleaner hunting throughout the library.

For the head of Topeka of the links, black history is marked throughout the 12 months a year.
