Easton, MD.

The intersection of Aurora Street and Brokelet Avenue has been observed in 11 accidents in the last 13 years – an average of one year. In February alone, there are already three crashes, which made the police take a closer look.

The debris, including pieces of cars and armor, were seen scattered on Avenue Brushlet after recent incidents.

“We made the city engineer look at the light of traffic, and that seems to be drivers, they just don’t pay attention,” said Captain Greg Reit of the Eston Police Department.

The intersection is often overwhelmed, with vehicles being archived in red lights and drivers that maneuver quickly after the light becomes green. Wright believes that increasing accidents may be due to the fact that drivers compete through red lights or dissipate from their phones.

The resident of Eston Erin Miller agreed, but said she did not plan to change her driving habits, except that she was extremely cautious.

“I would say that I am a very safe driver and cautious and I have the feeling that I have not had any problems with this particular intersection that will make me do something different,” Miller said.

To deal with the problem, police have increased patrols in the area.

“We have done additional trafficking tasks for employees to target this intersection just to see if they catch offenders or to see if there are other reasons,” Wright said.

Until now, employees have not identified a clear reason, and no changes have been resolved while discussing the movement model.
