The Minister of the Minister of Work, Housing Resources and Water Resources Kenneth Gilbert Adeo has praised the government project for housing construction, describing it as a transformative initiative aimed at addressing the challenges of rural dwellings.
During his review to the Committee for Parliament on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Kenneth Ajai answered questions from former minister of work and housing, Koho Oppong Ncruma, expressing strong policy support.
– Mr. Chairman, I believe the district housing policy is commendable. It brings homes at affordable prices for people living in rural areas and areas, improving their general living conditions, “he said.
Ajay stressed that inadequate housing in rural communities has long been a deterrent to professionals who accept publications outside the city centers.
“Many people are hesitant to move to rural areas due to the lack of decent accommodation. If we continue to implement the regional housing policy, this will have a significant impact, ensuring that professionals, including teachers, nurses and security staff, have access to quality housing, “he said.
The regional housing project, launched under former Minister Oppong Nkrumah, aims to reduce the housing deficit of Ghana by building affordable and durable homes in all 261 areas.
The initiative is intended to:
Provide a decent housing for public sector workers located in rural areas.
Increasing local economies by engaging local artists and craftsmen.
Encourage retirement in your native cities by offering housing solutions for Ghana people who want to return to their villages after years of city service.
If confirmed as a minister, Kenneth has joined to ensure the smooth implementation of the project working in cooperation with local authorities, stakeholders in the private sector and development partners to extend access to homes at affordable prices throughout the country.
“Many Ghana people want to retire in their home cities, but the challenge is accommodation. This policy will help to deal with this concern, “he added.
The regional housing project remains a key intervention by the government in dealing with the crisis in rural housing in Ghana and its successful implementation can significantly improve the livelihood of millions.
