The heavy winter storm creates dangerous conditions such as snow blankets DC, Maryland, Virginia – Wjla

The snowy roads led to dangerous conditions through DC, Maryland and Virginia when a strong storm moved to the region on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials in several areas have declared a state of emergency before the winter storm and numerous agencies call on the public to avoid roads. As the snow continues to fall, three to six inches are expected to cover the roads, leading to major interruptions of travel and closing school and business, according to the first 7news warning team.

Car crashes

Officials have announced that Westbound Interstate 495 to Sountbound Interstate 95 Ramp 170-A in Springfield, Virginia is closed as a result of a crash and snow accumulation. The closure is expected to lead to major interruptions of travel in the area.

Several car collisions in Montgomery County have led to the closure of the lane and interruptions of travel in the area. The Montgomery County County’s Fire and Rescue Service spokesman has called on the drivers to slow down and be careful as the number of crashes is increasing.
