Police identified her through CCTV, and she later acknowledged the shooting, admitting that she had used GPS to track her ex-lover.

The former school officer was arrested during the year before, in September 2021 on charges of domestic violence related to colon dispute.

During the heated dispute, Sanchez threatened with a gun and knife, throwing a ceramic object into a colon before hitting and scratching it and cutting the tires of her car.

It is reported that Sanchez resigned from his position in the school officer later that month, instead of termination, according to the school neighborhood in Miami-Dad.

Miami-Dadd Prosecutor Catherine Fernandez Rundell issued a statement after a sentence on Friday, claiming that no one was immunized against the “horror” of domestic violence, not even law enforcement officers.

“No one is immunized against terror and the horror of domestic violence,” Rundell said in a statement after the sentence. -The shooting of former police officer Jessenia Sanchez of her ex -friend, another police officer, unfortunately proves this point.

“Her violent act shows the pure explosion of aggression inherent in every incident of domestic violence,” she continued.

Sanchez’s 30-year sentence cannot recover the physical damage he inflicted while trying to kill the man she once claimed to have loved. Unfortunately, these marks will continue forever.

Colon, who retired from the Sheriff’s office in Miami-Dad last week, was in the courtroom when Sanchez accepted the legal basis agreement with family and friends.

“They finished my career. I wouldn’t end my career, but she finished my career and she knows this very well. My career would not end, “he said in tears.

Colon added that while justice could be served, Sanchez destroyed her life and that of his family.

“I think justice has been served,” he said. “She got what she deserved and had to get more, but I will take what she received.

“Thank God for my family, for all who were there for me. It was difficult. But without them, I probably wouldn’t go through it, “he added.

Colon’s brother, David Colon, also spoke in court, turning to the woman who almost took his brother’s life.

– I want to tell you that you have destroyed our family. You have destroyed someone full of life, [and] Full of plans with a bright future. You did this, ”he said.

“I hope you don’t have peace one day,” the fierce brother continued. “I hope you suffer every day for the rest of your life and God make you live a very long life so you can suffer for what you have done.”
