Tessa Towers, a current Ball State women’s basketball player, has made public accusations against Wisconsin and chief coach Marisa Moseli.
Towers, a native of Illinois, spent two seasons playing for Moseley and The Badgers before entering the transfer portal. She only played in four games in Wisconsin.
In a publication on the social media website TiktokTowers claims that Moseli and her staff have created a toxic environment that ultimately led to her decision to leave.
“My coach made me sign a release form to have access to my therapeutic sessions or be kicked out of the team,” Towers publishes (thanks to Badgernotes.com for quotes). “My coach has a choice between recognition at a psychiatric hospital or kicked by the team.”
Towers went into more detail, claiming that it was excluded from trips conducted for the team, forced to undergo autism testing and put a policy to get strikes for missing goals.
In 2022, the towers left basketball to focus on their mental health. In a press release at that time, Moseli offered a comment from the school, saying “Our program fully supports Tessa as it takes that time.
“We will always make sure that people are first before basketball.”
Several players other than the towers have been transferred from the program in recent years under the guidance of Moseli, which is currently in a long losing series after starting the season.
