The Texas Rangers are on a short list of teams that can challenge New York Yankees for the US League supremacy. Texas has a mix of proven veterans, young talents and a former CY Young winner who returns from an injury.
Let’s look at five rangers to keep track of the spring training, starting with one of the biggest mysteries of baseball aimed at the year.
Jacob Degrom, SP
Can Degrom return to the form is one of the most important questions in baseball. He won the CY Young Back-to-Back Awards in 2018 and ’19 for New York Mets. After signing with Rangers in 2023, DEGROM has only set nine matches.
Tommy John Surgery has put the DEGROM on the shelf during the bigger part of the last two years, but it was effective during his return in the late season in 2024. This spring we will see if it looks like the dominant pitcher that has ever been.
Kumar Rocker, sp
Texas has chosen a rocker with the total choice # 3 in the MLB 2022 draft. The 25-year-old right manager has a five-step arsenal with four models, which a clock in the middle to the top of the 90’s and a nasty slider.
He made his debut in the main league last September, publishing 3.86 ERA over 11 2/3 submission. Rangers’ rotation is set with five veterans, but an impressive spring from the rocker can make Texas rethink things.
Wyatt Langford, LF
Rangers chose Langford with the total choice # 4 in the MLB 2023 draft. He had an encouraging first season in 2024, cutting .253/ .325/ .415 with 16 homes and 3.9 BWAR.
He is currently breastfeeding a tilted injury, which should only be a problem in the next few days. Long -term, Langford has the pedigree to be central to the crime of Texas for many years. For this season, if the crime of Rangers improved, a good chance is because Langford has a big year.
Pederson is an 11-year-old veteran to turn 33 in April. He published a solid 2.9 Bwar with 23 home tracks in 132 games last season. This is his first year in Texas and he was brought to add some power in the middle of the order.
Rangers view him as a platoon player against the right picing, who can also play some field and even a first base.
Rangers have chosen Carter with the total choice of No. 50 in the MLB 2020 draft. He missed the bigger part of last season with a back injury.
Carter and Leody Taveras will bring it as a place on the central field next month.
