The Festival Society of the Edinburgh Festival appoints a new CEO – Irvine Times

Tony Lanketer joins the Riverside Studios society in Hammersmith, London, where he has been CEO for five years.

The former journalist spent 12 years in the South Africa National Festival of Art, one of the largest annual events in the world.

G -n Lanketer also presented a podcast, gave a TEDX talk about the power of arts and guest lectures on marketing and marketing of arts at the School of Journalism of the University of Rhodes.

He replaced Sean McCarthy, who announced his decision to withdraw as CEO last October.

He said: “The festival of the festival in Edinburgh rarely and a special place in the hearts and minds of artists around the world, and it played a formatt role in so many star careers and millions of moments that change life for the audience.

“To stay true to this heritage, though he is asked to help to shape and manage his guidance, is a privilege. The art environment is extremely challenging at the moment, and the world is a difficult and noisy place.

“Now, more than ever, there is a need for what the eyelashes are, and what it can be – for artists, audiences, producers, places and people from Edinburgh.

“Seon is an inspiring, principled and passionate leader and advocate for fringes in some of the most difficult years in its history, orienting some extraordinary challenges with diplomacy, empathy, focus and determination.

“She transmits it in great shape and I hope she can handle her hard work.”

Benny Higgins, chairman of society, said: “I’m glad Tony will join the Fringe Society this spring.

“Tony brings extensive experience from his previous roles, and his insights from both cultural and commercial origin will ensure that the fringe society can meet the needs of the broader fringe community.

“As fringe accumulates to its 80th anniversary, Tony’s leadership will be crucial for ensuring the long-term resistance of Fringe Society and Edinburgh Festival Fringe.”

Lanketer will take on the role in early April.
