The driver is prohibited after being caught on A1 (m) in Durham County using his mobile phone – the northern echo

Nasim Shahid, a 58 -year -old of Sherborne Avenue, Luton, was fined and had six penalty points added to his driving record after being found guilty of using a hand -held mobile phone while driving.

The case was heard in the Peterley Magistrate Court on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

The court heard that on April 25, 2024, Shahid was caught using his mobile phone while driving Mercedes at A1 (M) north between the 62 intersection and 63 intersection.

Magistrates have imposed a fine of £ 220, along with an extra charge of a victim of 88 pounds and 110 pounds, prosecutors, which has led to its overall financial penalty to £ 418.

Shahid’s driver’s record was approved by six penalty points and the sentence was reported to DVLA.

Magistrates emphasized the serious risks caused by the use of mobile phones while driving, warning that distracted driving is the main cause of road accidents.
