This is probably no secret to you, but do you know that jobs in the State Data Center Washington have doubled since 2018? Yes, doubled and makes sense because Washington states have some of the cheapest electricity in the United States. So it would be natural for those major technology companies to want to place data centers in Washington, especially in East Washington.
According to Axios.com,
–Among the United States, Washington was the eighth greater increase in the data center’s employment between the first quarters of 2018 and 2024, marking a 106% growth, according to the quarterly indicators of the US Census Bureau.
These numbers include data centers as well as web hosting and several other connected fields. “
A major cluster of data centers inhabit North Virginia
For some reason, it seems that we are just beginning to realize how important data centers here are in East Washington, but it’s been a big deal for years. In fact, Washington State is not the largest numerous data centers in the United States. I think this goes to Virginia, but jobs at the Virginia Data Center are actually reduced.
The emergence of data centers in Washington is one of the reasons why so many electricians have moved to our area. The job is good and pays well.

It is interesting to note that the largest growth of jobs in the data center is located in Idaho, South Dakota, Arkansas, Louisiana and Georgia.
Seattle hosts several smaller data centers and only these data centers in 2022 used 10% of the total electricity used on the Seattle market.
Microsoft alone plans to spend almost $ 80 billion on new data centers in the United States in 2025.
Bloomberg reports that Amazon plans to spend almost $ 150 billion over the next 15 years.
