A convicted armed robber on the run after breaching his statutory release conditions is known to be roaming Durham Region and other communities.
According to the OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement or “ROPE” Squad, Kevin Okra, 26, is unlawfully at large. Okra is in the midst of serving a nearly six-year sentence for various crimes, including:
- Two cases of armed robbery
- aggravated assault
- committing a crime while in disguise
- possession of a restricted firearm
- possession of a firearm against a court order
- two counts of failure to comply with release orders
- attempt to commit indictable offenses and
- robbery
He eventually received statutory release, a transitional process in which a convict is released back into the community but closely monitored to serve out the end of his sentence.
On October 28, the ROPE squad announced that Okra had escaped. They describe him as a black man, six feet tall, 186 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Okrah is known to frequent Durham Region, Orillia, Ottawa and Toronto, as well as Laval, Quebec.
