Treatment can help with various medical conditions, including PTSR and depression in veterans.

Wilmington, NC (WWAY)-Aban-garden treatment, known as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, may come to the Wilmington area.

Treatment can help with various medical conditions, including PTSR and depression in veterans.

Representatives of Extivita Healthcare – a company that specializes in HBOT clinics – overcomes local leaders of the value that therapy can bring to the Community on Thursday. The company already has one clinic in Durham, North Carolina.

The therapy consists of numerous sessions known as “dives”, where patients are placed in a pure pressure oxygen chamber.

Some studies have shown that treatment can help with healing wounds by increasing the level of oxygen in the blood and a potential increase in stem cell production.

Extivita claims that technology can be used to treat depression, anxiety and PTSR – conditions that veterans face at much higher levels of the total population.

In addition to the operation of its clinics, Extivita also collaborates with HBOT for Heros, a non -profit purpose that provides veterans access to therapy for free.

The Purple Heart David Buzzard veteran with HBOT for Heros said-for him-treatment was life-changing.

“I was wounded twice in Afghanistan, I was a fighting infantryman, I took a few explosions aside and my face here, I had some problems with the shrapnel,” Bujard explained. “After three dives, the improvements to my sleep were so dramatic that it went from three and a half, four hours of rough sleep to about seven hours of deep sleep; You know, a dream I haven’t enjoyed in many years. ”

Buzzard said treatment also improved in his mental well -being and mobility.

Although it’s not just a Buzer. The experience is shared by the marine veteran Chris Rabasi.

“It improved my sleep. I’m an alcoholic, I didn’t drink 20-23, “Rabasi said.

The hope of Rabasi and Buzer is that Extivita – and through the HBOT extension for Heros – can extend its services to Wilmington and outside.

“North Carolina is a leading nation and this is a good position that should be, in my opinion,” Bujard said. “Many of our representatives see the benefit and they see the value in the actual leading of the nation in addressing it and we hope to bring it throughout the country.”

“I think this is something that needs to expand and be part of our healing culture,” Rabas added
