The City of Reno is inviting community members and stakeholders to participate in the latest virtual workshop on the Wingfield and Barbara Bennett Parks Master Plan.
Set for Wednesday, October 30, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., the workshop will reveal the preferred concept for the parks, offering participants one last chance to provide input before the plan is presented to the Reno Recreation and Parks Commission for adoption .
The public is encouraged to pre-register for the virtual meeting. A recording of the event will be available online for those unable to attend.
“This workshop is critical to finalizing a vision that reflects the needs of the community, ensuring these parks will continue to serve as beloved places for all,” said Nathan Ulliott, director of parks and recreation for the City of Reno. He expressed gratitude for the community input received throughout the planning process.
Barbara Bennett Park, located along the Truckee River, and Wingfield Park, known for its amphitheater and trails, are integral parts of Reno’s park system. The Master Plan, developed with public input beginning in January 2023, aims to enhance these spaces for a variety of recreational uses.
The planning process included workshops and a community survey to gather input from the public. The project focuses on improvements that will adapt to a wide range of ages, abilities and interests for future generations. Live polling will be conducted during the workshop to gather final feedback from attendees, and Spanish support will be available.
