Goodnight West TexasWritten by Kali Fukua and illustrated by Richard Coudry, he brings the culture, sights and spirit of Western Texas to the lives of young readers. Fuki, a native of Western Texas with family roots in Midland, dating back to over 150 years, sees the book as more than a story to go to bed – this is a tribute to the place he calls home.
“Western Texas is a really good picture of what people think when they think of Texas,” Fukua said.
The idea of Goodnight West Texas She came to her as she read to her children. She was inspired by her cousin’s book Good night cautownWhich emphasizes Fort Worth and thought, “Why not Western Texas?”
Coudri, a well -known illustrator, immediately contacted Fukua’s vision.
“The whole heart of this is her pride and where he came from and I just thought it was very cool,” Kaudri said. “It’s not, but it could look like a dump and it didn’t matter, because she was like she loved her place. And this is the way she mentioned the inheritance and other things so that she can be proud of that, her children can be proud of that and her children. “

A forged illustrator comes to life the book

Fukuka agreed and added, “This is my heritage – something I will pass on to my children, grandchildren and I hope for generations.”
