The Birmingham Police Special Police Team makes more than 50 crimes arrests in January – Al.com

A specialized team of employees in Birmingham, aimed partly to targeting people with illegal weapons or people who own weapons, illegally arrested more than 50 people on charges of crimes in January alone.

The special implementation of the department was formed by the temporary boss Michael Picket, who “promised to make life uncomfortable for criminals in Birmingham.”

The set is made up of employees selected from the whole department who do not respond to calls, but instead patrol hot spots of crimes.

Picket gathered the team in the summer of 2024 and made it permanent in December when he became a temporary head.

The team, Officer Truman Fitzgerald, said: “Provides boots on the ground” to direct criminals who have illegal weapons such as Glock Switches or stolen weapons, or who own weapons illegally, including convicted criminals and minors.

Police on Friday released the team statistics in January.

In addition to the 53 people arrested on combined 85 charges, Seth also made 25 arrests of crimes with a combined 205 charges.

Employees seized 33 guns, five of which were stolen and three, which were equipped with a machine conversion device.

The team made 92 traffic stops, issued 30 quotes and detained 14 vehicles.

A set seized $ 31 336 and drugs, including fentanyl, heroin and cocaine.
