Jason Savage, 35 -year -old from Fourth Avenue, Little Heath, was convicted of crimes related to terrorism after a trial of the Birmingham Crown court on Thursday.
The jury heard how Savage – from March 2022 until his arrest on March 2024 – studied and planned an activity to carry out an attack.
Savage became Islam in 2010, after an extreme and forced interpretation of Salafi’s movement.
Prosecutors told the court that Savage had focused on a Salafi clergy associated with a mosque and a bookstore in a little health, as the priest is an outspoken critic of Islamist terrorism and extremism, contrary to Savage’s views.
The jurors were shown what was described as a reconnaissance video, which was made by Savage three days before his arrest, with a video probably present by.
Savage also downloaded and watched violent and extremist videos and studied how to kill with a knife and how to make parts of a gun and ammunition.
Savage had also been intelligence for military buildings and police departments as potential places.
Days before his arrest, Savage had changed his Lone Wolf profile to Lone Wolf, showing that he was planning to make the attack himself.
On the day of his arrest on March 14, 2024, Savage’s messages and intentions increased, in a voice note to a friend, exclaimed that he would “see him in paradise”.
Savage was not aware that the “friend” with whom he shared the message was actually an undercover police officer from counteracting terrorism, which polished Western Midlands.
Savage was arrested several hours later on Birmingham Street.
After looking for his address, a knife was restored, which he had adapted by removing the handle and wrapping it in fabric.
The head of the counter -terrorism in West Midlands, Detective Chief Alison Hearst, said: “Many arrests committed for suspects in terrorism are pre -planned, but the arrest of Divac was held on the street during the evening, as we all have We were more concerned with his behavior.
“Thanks to these quick actions to protect society, there is no doubt that we have stopped a dangerous individual who will cause an attack that would cause injuries and potential and victims.”
