The Birmingham-based rehabilitation company has a new CEO – Business Alabama


Anthony Mollica is the new CEO of Upstream Rehabilitation.

Birmingham-based Upstream Rehabilitation has appointed Anthony Mollica as its new CEO.

“Patients, partners and upstream team members will benefit from Anthony’s clinical experience and extensive healthcare leadership experience as he leads us forward, ensures we continue to deliver best-in-class care, supports our clinical teams and take advantage of growth opportunities,” said Dave Van Neim, Upstream founder and senior advisor to the board of directors. “Upstream has a 20-year history of thoughtfully expanding the delivery of effective, clinically superior physical and occupational therapy services across the industry, and Anthony is the ideal leader to carry that legacy forward.”

Upstream operates more than 1,200 outpatient rehabilitation clinics with more than 8,000 employees in 28 states.

“Anthony’s expertise spans home health care, specialty care, pharmacy, palliative care, senior living and hospice services,” Van Name said. “His cross-functional management experience is a perfect fit for our clinically oriented culture and operational structure. His dynamic experience will also strengthen our agility and responsiveness in the evolving industry landscape.”

Prior to joining Upstream, Mollica was CEO at Paragon Healthcare and President of Hospice and Palliative Care at Amedisys Inc.
