Laramie – With a big shot with a line game, Wyoming knows that there is an ace in the hole in Senior Obi Agby.
AGBIM delivered with an expired game with a 3-indicated game to leak Wyoming to a possible 83-72 overtime win over Fresh State in front of 3 955 fans at the Arena-Auditorium on Tuesday night.
“That’s why you have special players (yes) make special plays like Obi. You just get the ball of your best player in space, as they did with Akuel Kot last year and you know that his step back, rhythm-roll rock that can Stun it, “said UW Sundance Wicks chief trainer. “It’s fun to be part of these games when you win it.”
AGBIM’s shot helped Wyoming (11-10, 4-6 Mountain West) escape with a critical victory at the conference over Freen’s struggling team, which came in the game 10th in the MW standings. The bulldogs had lost eight of their last nine matches on Tuesday.
Following the Zumer to send the game into sequels, Agbim made another threes and samples another to push the cowboys to 77-69 lead by 2:09 to play. UW made four consecutive shots to retreat. Fresno State only shoots 2-for-12 in overtime.
AGBIM finished with 17 points, five assists and three thefts. He made 6 out of 9 shots attempt while dealing with Bulldogs 2-3 zone. AGBIM entered the game as Mountain West’s second leading goalkeeper with 18.2 points per game.
A game, after suffering from the worst shooting of the season in a loss to San Jose State, agbim was only 3-6 of the field until he spent much of the second half of the bench.
Everything has changed for senior transfer on the final possession of Pokes adjustment. AGBIM got off the screen at the top of the circle, received the ball from Jordan Nesbiti, took a dribble to the right, and then stepped back with two Bulldog defenders in his grill to hit the 3-teller of the game when the clock was running out.
AGBIM said he had never seen the shot enter because of the defenders in his mug.
“Honestly, I didn’t even see him. I just heard people scream. I saw my teammates start pursuing me, “AGBIM said. “I have the feeling that we have never had such a moment before (in) this season. So it was big for us. “
Nesbit was watching from the corner when his teammate breaks the clutch shot. He admitted that he had complete confidence in # 5.
“Nobody like Obi. Come on, man. It is damn close to the best security in the country, “Nesbit said. “If you ask me, in our team, he is the best guard in the country without a doubt.”
Nesbit delivered another double-pair for the cowboys with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kobe Newton finished with team 18 points, as he made four 3-indicatives, while Dontaie Allen added 14 points at 4-for-11 execution beyond the arc. All said, Wyoming made 17 out of 36 (47%) of deep to record the most fledged threes in the game, as it hit 28 (NCAA record) against Hastings on NAIA in 2021.
After a terrible shooting in San Jose in the evening, Wyoming had his moments in a decent first half, which saw that he was a lead 31-30 in the break.
Pokes continued with 23-10 run on a 9-minute section in the middle of the starting half to take the lead by 29-19 at 6:03 after a basket from Touko Tainamo in the paint. At this point, the UW game shoots 50% of the field and has become 6 out of 13 attempts beyond the rainbow.
UW finished half 1 of 7 from the floor with four rpm in the last 6 minutes, when Fresh State climbs to one point from the lead.
The cowboys quickly built a 13-point lead in the second half by 15-3 to open a game. Agbim, Allen and Aj Wills all contacted their first 3-point attempts to bring Pokes forward 46-33 at 16:03.
But this lead was deleted by the Bulldogs with 13-2 runs for a 4-minute foot at the end of the second half. Zhaon Collins made a float in the paint to give Fresno State his first half-time lead, 60-59, with 1:56 to play.
Fresh’s lead has grown to 65-61 with 41 seconds to play, but the 3-indicator of the clutch of Alan led the cowboys within one point, inhaling life in the UW bench with 27 seconds. Brian Amuneke made both free throws to bring Fresh State forward by 67-64 with 21 seconds remaining.
Bulldogs only needed another stop to pull the victory for a return. Unfortunately for them, they allowed AGBIM to shoot.
Wix then credits the spirit of his team to execute late.
“Winning in this league is so difficult. It’s demolished, pull out,” he said. “You can’t count anyone. You can’t count us. We fight for it every day. I told our boys:” We needed a game like this one to believe we could do it. “
“To be 13 (points) in probably both halves and then lose it again and then you have to go back in the last minute and you have to actually do some things in the last minute and the boys made big plays. Like a coach, you Say, “Thank you.”
Jalen Weaver scored 23 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Bulldogs in defeat. Elijah Price finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Fresno State fired 41% of the floor and overturned Wyoming 38-35.
Wyoming will look to make two in a row when it travels to San Diego State on Saturday at 6:00 pm
