The 9th Annual Amazing Race of St. Paul has a wild west final – Nujournal

24 teams participated this year. Each team received an appetizing clue that sent them in one six places around New Ulm. The teams will have to visit all six of the seats and return to St. Paul’s Lutheran School to complete the race. The six stops were New Ulm Airport, Washington Training Center (WLC), Lykka Books, St. John’s, Royal Oaks Center and the Martin Luther College football field (MLC).

On each site, the teams were asked to complete a specific challenge. Amazing Race Committee Chairman Amy Rich said most challenges were thematic this year after the Wild West. In the WLC teams learned to dance; The taught rope tricks in Royal Oaks and the Lykke Books teams have a taste of barbecue sauce.

The competition was a little more challenging than last year. Rich said usually, the first team crosses the finish line to 45 minutes. This year, it took a little longer when the winning team crosses the line just below 53 minutes.

The winners were the Gunderson family, consisting of Paul Gunderson, Meredith Gunderson, Linea Gunderson and Nils Gunderson. In addition to winning the race, Gundersons won the team’s best name award: “I will see you in our rearview mirror.”

The Gunderson family was the first to cross the final line for St. Paul’s incredible race. Nils Gunderson was the first to cross the line, followed by his sister Linaya, his mother Meredith and his father Paul Gunderson. The family finished the race in less than 53 minutes.

The name of the team turned out to be prophetic as they won the race with over five minutes of margin. The team in second place finished in 59 minutes.

The victory for Gunderson was long -standing. Meredith Gunderson said this was the fifth time they competed in the race, but the first time they won.

“The first time we played him, we had our daughter in a baby box and that slowed us down.” she said. “I think we have second this year.”

This year, Gundersons really managed to work as a challenge team. They agreed that the most difficult challenge was the dance of the line. Nils Gunderson said it was difficult because they had no idea which path to rotate in dancing.

Nils Gunderson said his favorite challenge was in MLC. The family had to transfer a plastic disk through the field with the help of tennis missiles. It was a physical challenge, but Gunderson finished it relatively quickly.

Linea Gunderson said the easiest challenge was the mental challenge of the airport. The family flew through this challenge.

Second place, consisting of Laura, Dean and Reagan Lochner, Popi Schmoller and Nadia Zarnstorf have confirmed that the line dancing challenge is the most difficult.

The Royal Oaks Center’s rope challenge proved to be a challenge for several teams, but the most appreciated the fun from the rope in a chair.

It was the 9th year of hosting the competition for incredible competitions. The program began as a raising funds for the improvements to the Lutheran element of St. Paul. Rich said the event continues to help to cover the price of the construction project. The event also proved to be extremely popular with families. The participation of the team is always strong.

This year, Rich counted as a success, because every team that went through the final was happy.
