Golf fans can expect significant changes at the 2025 WM Phoenix Open after event organizers spent the last eight months fine-tuning how the historic tournament will operate.

Crowds and drunken behavior marred the February 2024 event.

“Each year, The Thunderbirds review the previous tournament and look for ways to improve,” WM Phoenix Open Chairman Matt Mooney said in an Oct. 21 news release. “We are working closely with the PGA TOUR, the Scottsdale Police Department and the Fire Department. .. and our other valued partners to make impactful changes for 2025.”

The Thunderbirds, the nonprofit organization that runs the Phoenix Open, announced the changes on Oct. 18. These will include:

WM Phoenix Open ticket changes

  • No more physical tickets. All will be digital.
  • Third-party vendors such as Vivid Seats and StubHub will no longer sell tickets. They can now only be purchased on the WM Phoenix Open website.
  • End of “good every day” tickets, the passes that can be used at any time during the tournament week. The Open will only sell passes for certain days.

New second entry at WM Phoenix Open

A second entrance to the course will be opened near the 18th hole, on the Hayden Loop Greenway just south of the original. Historically, there was only one way to enter the course.

Upgrades for fans at WM Phoenix Open

  • The paths on the course will be twice as wide. The thinner lanes became congested when the 2024 event became crowded.
  • Redesigned Taylor Morrison Fairway House on the 12th hole. It will include “more accessible viewing areas along with expanded space for upgraded concessions.
  • Changes to the Desert Oasis BBQ and Beer Garden near the 7th hole, which event organizers say will give fans elevated views of multiple holes.
