BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPRUD) — Thursday is opening day for the 58th annual Baton Rouge State Fair. It’s back with more rides, attractions and vendors. Both WVLA NBC 33 and WGMB Fox 44 are proud sponsors of this year’s event.
Families can expect to see the Dynamo Dog Show, Dinosaur Experience, Egg Roll Love Food Truck and much more. You’ll also find over a dozen rides and attractions at the fairgrounds, located off Airline Highway.
GBRSF President Cliff Barton says this annual event is for a great cause. Money raised supports initiatives to give back to the community. He said more than $4 million has been donated. On Sunday, October 27, nearly 50 high school students in the Capital Region will be awarded $500 for volunteering.
The State Fair at the BREC Fairgrounds at Airline Highway, 16072 Airline Highway, runs for 11 days. According to the official state fair website, the fair will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 10:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
General admission for the first day is $10 and $25 for admission and rides. Visitors must purchase a wristband or tickets for rides. Travel coupons are $1 each.
On weekdays, from Monday to Thursday, prices may vary. Organizers ask visitors to buy tickets at the entrance.
