‘I did not lose 2023 presidential election’: Atiku makes new claim, mentions what happened
Legit.ng recalled that Atiku, the PDP presidential candidate in the 2023 election, claimed to have won the 2023 election but his mandate was criminally stolen.
The former Vice President claimed that his economic policies were tested during the tenure of former President Olusegun Obasanjo/Atiku from 1999 to 2007.
Atiku made the assertion while attacking the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for failed economic policies.
Reacting through a post shared on his page X on Tuesday, November 5, Omokri, who supported Atiku in the election, indicated that the PDP was facing major setbacks due to internal disunity and defection which contributed to their loss.
He explained how the camp of Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Nyesom Wike caused the PDP to lose heavily during the polls.

Omokri tweeted:
“Why Waziri Atiku Abubakar must weaken President Bola Tinubu
“I supported the candidacy of Waziri Atiku Abubakar. However, the election was not stolen from him or the Nigerian public.
“It would be difficult for us in the Peoples Democratic Party to win the 2023 presidential election.
“If as a united political party PDP could not defeat APC in 2019, how could we defeat them in 2023 when we were divided?
“We had 11,262,978 votes in 2019. By 2022, Peter Obi left us with 1,693,485 votes we got in the South East. Then the G5 governors left and ended our hopes of getting 25% in their states.
“Then we lost Kwankwaso with his two million votes.
“If you subtract the votes for South East, Kano and Oyo, Benue and Rivers, you will see that it is roughly equal to 6,984,520 votes polled by Waziri Atiku Abubakar in 2023.

Omokri defends Tinubu’s economic policies
Speaking further, Omokri also defended President Bola Tinubu’s tough economic decisions, arguing that Atiku’s proposed gradual approach would not be feasible given the inherited economic challenges.
Omokri said thus:
“Let me now turn to some alternative policies proposed by Waziri Atiku.
“Waziri said he would take a gradual approach and would not be as drastic as President Tinubu.
“Given the reality of what the Tinubu administration inherited, I don’t know if that would be possible.”
