Baton Rouge, La. (WAFB) – A new senior living neighborhood brings a community, safety and comfort at North Baton Rouge.
“Thank goodness I’m here in this beautiful neighborhood,” said Millinda Smith’s resident.
Today was the big opening of Hollywood Heights and Acres Community. It offers 90 units of people aged 55 years and more. This is not just a place to stay, but a community where neighbors care for each other.
“It really comes and provides safe, clean community housing. But it also comes and you can say that this is a community, “said Rob Coates, president and executive director of the Banyan Foundation.
The Banyan Foundation, a non -profit goal with the headquarters in Alabama, and Partners Southeast, a local home builder at affordable prices, as well as several other groups and organizations gathered to bring all this to the elderly at North Baton Rouge.
“We are talking about an area that has been disinvized for decades. So, every time you have the opportunity to bring tens of millions of dollars to a community, this is something that should be considered, “said J. Wesley Daniels, Jr., CEO of Partners Southeast.
With the cutting of the Valentine’s Day, the love of a new community and new beginnings was in the air.
“We love our adults. They are our generations of factors that really help us in our development. So every time we have the ability to really serve our adults, our most vulnerable population, we could not ask for a better day, “Daniels said.
Neighbors also love him.
“And I love him, I love him, I love him, beautiful,” Smith said.
Smith moved to his new home here a year and a half ago. As she was moving around, she saw the community and immediately fell in love. Compared to her previous home, she says this is “50 thousand times better. Better, better, better. Housing, everything, the community, everything. Very safe, everything is very good here. “
And for developers and partners, this is a constant mission to maintain this feeling alive.
“People are so accustomed to the developers who go in and leave, and that’s why we have a stigma that has been put to us until we prove them wrong,” Coates said. “They want to make sure we will be here; We were told we wanted to make sure it was our home for a long time. So with that with communication and cooperation, it turned out to be something that anyone can be proud of. “
Hollywood Heights and Acres is a tax credit based on your income. While they are almost full capacity, if you are over 55 years old and are interested in living here, applications for the waiting list are open.
