Lubbock, TX – Trick-or-treaters in West Texas can expect a cooler, more comfortable night this Halloween, with temperatures dropping into the low 60s by 7pm in Lubbock. As kids and families head outside, the National Weather Service (NWS) advises wearing layers as temperatures continue to drop into the evening. Plainview and Friona will see similar conditions, with temperatures dropping to around 54 degrees by 8 p.m.
According to the NWS, Lubbock will enjoy sunny conditions Thursday with a high of 70 degrees, changing to a clear evening around 45 degrees. However, the weather will change on Friday night as the chances of rain and thunderstorms increase, signaling the start of a potentially wet weekend. Lubbock may have up to a 70% chance of heavy rain and thunderstorms through Saturday night. Residents to be informed and prepare for possible rainfall and wet roads over the weekend.
The extended forecast calls for partly sunny skies Friday with temperatures as high as 73 degrees. By Saturday, the chance of thunderstorms will increase significantly, bringing heavy rainfall and possible severe conditions. The rain is likely to continue into the early hours of Sunday before tapering off, with a small chance of more showers later in the day. The weekend will end with high temperatures near 75 degrees on Sunday, followed by another slight cool-down early next week.
Drivers are advised to use caution on wet roadways, especially if traveling on major routes such as I-27, as visibility may be reduced. Anyone with outdoor plans this weekend should monitor local weather updates and prepare for the chance of rain and thunderstorms through Saturday night.
