Texas Rangers announced on Sunday that they had signed veteran Kevin Staircase outfilator for a minor league deal with an invitation to the Major League spring workout.
The message came before the spring training game of Rangers against Chicago Cubs.
The 36-year-old outfield made his MLB debut in 2013 with Toronto Blue Jays and was the 32nd Blue Jays round in MLB’s 2011 draft.
He spent last season with both Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels, where he cut .229/.291/.377/.667 with eight home runways and 45 RBI. He was much more productive with the angels, as he cut .236/.291/.378/.669 with seven home tracks and 41 RBI.
He always had the flexibility of the position in the field and that is what he would bring to the rangers. He started matches in all three positions of the field last year and even spent two games as a certain striker.
If he made the Rangers’ list on the day of opening or at some point in the season, Texas would be his 10th team. It has a lifetime of a sloping line of .255/.293/.406/.700 with 114 home tracks and 468 RBI.
