Texas guard Longhorns Tre Johnson named Secret Freshman of Week – Sports Illustrated

The Texas guard Tre Johnson won his second straight and third career Secre Weekly Accolade.

The Star Freshman won the title of the freshman of the SEC for the week after two travel games against No. 23 Ole Miss and LSU. Previously, Johnson won the same honor on November 11 and last week, January 27.

Despite the rock launch of the conference, Longhorns seems to be finding their pace in SEC, and Johnson is a key part of growth. During the last two competitions in Texas, Johnson is an average of 20.0 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 thefts per game and converts 10 out of 10 free throws for a perfect percentage.

Even in the loss of Mississippi in Oxford, the horns are fighting. Johnson posted 22 points, three assists against one turnover and two fights in 33 minutes of play. With the dominant 89-58 victory over LSU in Baton Rouge, the freshman had five career assists and one turnover in addition to 18 points.

Johnson leads the conference in scoring with 19 points per game, converting 45% of the pitch. It leads Longhorns in minutes with an average of over 32 minutes per game. The freshman who broke the records in his first collegial match against Ohio, posting 29 points, scored in the double digits in 19 out of 20 games played this season. Johnson scored the highest 30 points in Zumer’s victory over Texas A&M, becoming the only freshman to make it from Kevin Durant.

Johnson and Longhorns will take Arkansas next on Wednesday from 20:00 in Austin.
