Texas Governor Greg Abbott was on hand to help RoyOMartin celebrate the grand opening and open house for the Corrigan Oriented Strand Board (OSB) facility on Wednesday.

Built near the company’s original OSB plant, the new expansion is located at 1923 US Highway 287 West in Corrigan. The new facility is said to increase the size and production capacity of the mill to 1,400 MMSF (million square feet), an increase of about 43% annually. The addition now makes Corrigan OSB, LLC the largest OSB mill in North America by capacity.

The new facility also brings a total of 300 jobs to the mill, which was the focus of Abbott’s speech on Wednesday.

“Fundamentally, one thing we’re here to talk about is creating more good-paying jobs right here in the great state of Texas,” the governor said.

Abbott said the state has been involved in more than 20 economic development projects in East Texas over the past several years. These projects are in Crockett, Jacksonville, Longview, Nacogdoches, Lufkin and many more.

“One thing I know from being in economic development for 10 years now is that projects like this don’t just happen and they don’t happen because of one person’s intervention,” Abbott said. “Texas is the number one state in the United States for the most economic development projects every year since I’ve been governor, they’re driven by local people, so I thank all the local officials who have been involved in making this happen. process.

The prosperity achieved in Texas, he told the audience of several hundred people, is spreading throughout the state with an intense focus on creating more jobs in East Texas.

“The OSBs that come out of the facility go into the residential market. If you look at a report that came out yesterday, two of the top three housing markets for next year are Dallas-Fort Worth and the Houston area. Also, statewide alone, Texas is the number one housing market in the last year alone, more than 600,000 people have moved to Texas from elsewhere The pain of inflation and higher costs of living and higher housing costs are due to inadequate housing supply What RoyOMartin is doing in this facility is trying to lower housing prices by making it easier to build houses faster and better in the great country. Texas.”
