Texas Governor announces guarantee reforms to keep the dangerous criminals behind bars – KWTX

Austin, Texas (KWTX) – Governor Greg Abat has announced new guarantee reforms aimed at improving public safety in Texas.

The reforms developed in collaboration with the Texas legislative power are intended to ensure that dangerous criminals remain behind bars and that the judges are liable for their decisions in determining a guarantee.

The measures already applied include:

• Prohibitions of violent criminals will be released on a personal relationship.
• Requireing the guarantee to be determined or refused within 48 hours of arrest and this criminal history should be considered before defining a guarantee.
• Requirement of compulsory education for judges regarding their obligations in determining a guarantee.
• Requirement of the conditions of the bond to be announced that enable law enforcement to retain violators on bail who violate the court orders.
• Creating a crime from a state prison for seasoning an electronic monitoring device.

Despite these changes, Abbot stressed that some judges continue to release repeated offenders.

To deal with this, Abbott plans to work with the Texas legislative power to accept a change in the constitution that would:

• Require judges to refuse a guarantee for abusers.
• Require the guarantee to be denied if the offender is charged with a capital murder or a sexual crime related to a child.

As Abbot emphasizes, “we will continue to maintain the Texas economy # 1 and improve our schools. But the fact is that better schools and a healthy economy do not really mean anything if you do not have safe communities to live in. ”

These reforms are intended to deal with concerns about releasing re -offenders and increasing the safety of texas.

The Abbot will continue to work with the legislators for the progress of these proposals during this legislative session.
