With the 2024 election just days away, Florida A&M University’s homecoming parade on Saturday will feature a Texas congressman visiting the FAMU community on behalf of the Harris-Walz campaign.
Texas Rep. Mark Veasey will be on campus Saturday to encourage FAMU students and alumni to “get out the vote” for Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee, Gov. Tim Waltz as her vice presidential nominee and other Democrats on this year’s vote.
According to a release from Team Harris-Walz, Veasey’s efforts will include participating in FAMU’s homecoming parade on Saturday and participating in the 8 a.m. event, a Get out the Vote phone bank gathering of supporters at 12:40 p.m. in 200 E. College Ave. – under the Florida AFL-CIO in downtown Tallahassee – attending the FAMU vs. Texas Southern University football game and participating in the Harris-Waltz tailgate before the game.

The effort comes several weeks after a Harris-Walz campaign spokesman confirmed that the campaign’s “HBCU Homecoming Tour” will stop at FAMU, where homecoming festivities began Oct. 27 and conclude Sunday.
Because Veasey’s campus visit is on Saturday, registered voters will be able to vote at FAMU’s Efferson Student Union until 6:00 p.m. before Election Day on Tuesday.
