“Tell us your story,” the podium tells Washington stories! – Southeastern Iow Union

The Southeastern Iow Union offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be misinterpreted.

Do you have a favorite podcast you like to listen to? Have you heard of a podcast, but you always wondered what it was about?

Poddue is a digital audio file shared on the Internet. It is often shared in an episode format, so the listener can follow with the latest contribution. Sometimes podcasts speak one person, and sometimes many people talk.

With the addition of the recording studio in our Make It Place here in the library, Leann Kunz and I started a library podcast called “Tell us your story”. Our podcast gives us the opportunity to interview people in Washington who have a story to share. The people of Washington are a large part of what makes our city special. We hope that this podcast will be a way to ensure that we maintain these stories so that people can continue to hear them for years to come.

To create our podcast, we had to take a few steps. Since we had the idea of what our podding would be, we had to be sure that we knew how to use the equipment in the recording studio. Fortunately, Craig McClunahan and John Flanry were there to help. After a few lessons how to make sure everything was working properly, we were ready to write down!

At first we were a little nervous about how it would go, but it was easier than we expected. Once we talk to our guests, it becomes easy to let the conversation run. We record our interviews in a program called Audacity. This is an editing program. There are usually not many changes. The editing feature helps to interview multiple interviews for an episode. After editing, the next step is to add it to Spotify. Spotify is a free place where we can keep our podcast so that the public has access to it.

So far, we have seven episodes in our first season. You can find our last episode by following the link in the online version of this article.

We would be glad to follow us on Spotify and like and share our podcast. Sharing our podcast will spread the word to others so that more people can learn about wonderful people in our city.
