Update: On Nov. 18, police announced that Jarriz Jones, 25, was charged with first-degree murder, and a 61-year-old man was charged with obstruction of justice. Jones is the half-brother of Myeon Jones, the teenager who went missing and was later found dead, according to the North Carolina 6 District Attorney’s Office.

A teenager has been found dead two weeks after she disappeared from North Carolina, officials said.
Myeon Jones was 16 years old when she disappeared on Nov. 1, according to the Wilmington Police Department. Foul play was suspected in the case.
Then on Nov. 17, the teenager’s body was found in nearby Pender County, Chief Donnie Williams said in a press conference his department posted on Facebook.
“This case has taken a psychological toll on our officers and others directly involved,” Williams said in a statement. “We will follow departmental protocols and refer staff to outside mental health professionals.”
Police said Millon has been missing since she was last seen on South 7th Street in Wilmington. Multiple agencies were involved in the search, which took officers to a New Hanover County depot, the Wilmington Star-News reported.
“In all the time I’ve been in this office, I’ve never seen a more extensive investigation to try to get a child home than what I’ve personally witnessed these two weeks,” Ben David, District Attorney for Northern Carolina During the press conference. “This is not the home any of us wanted.”
Almost a week after the teenager went missing, officials announced they have a “suspect of interest” who police say is now charged in her disappearance, but did not disclose exact charges. The suspect’s girlfriend faces obstruction charges, McClatchy News reported.
During the press conference, David stated that murder charges are expected.
The investigation into the teenager’s death is ongoing, according to officials.
