A 19-year-old man was sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting a teenager in a Gilbert parking lot and other crimes, authorities said Thursday.
The crimes committed by Kyler Renner date back to December 2022, March 2023 and January 2024, according to a news release from the Maricopa County District Attorney’s Office.
Renner pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit drug possession for sale, possession of drug paraphernalia and aggravated assault.
In December 2022, Renner assaulted a teenager in Gilbert’s garage. In the 2023 case, Renner had various drugs for sale such as fentanyl.
In police reports, Renner admitted to drug use, taking approximately 30 fentanyl pills a day, the MCAO release said. In the 2024 case, Renner had drug paraphernalia in his possession.
“This defendant had a very negative impact on the juvenile community not only by committing serious crimes, but also by distributing dangerous drugs into the community,” Maricopa County District Attorney Rachel Mitchell said.
