Elsewhere, five people were reported killed in a rocket attack on central Ukraine that also left at least 21 wounded.
The drone crashed into a 25-story apartment building Friday night in the western part of the city, killing a 15-year-old girl and injuring five others, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko.
Ukraine’s emergency service said 100 people had been evacuated after the strike, which damaged several apartments on the upper floors of the building.
Sergei Popko, who heads Kyiv’s local military administration, said Saturday that Russian forces pounded the city overnight for seven and a half hours.
Air raid sirens wailed throughout the night and Mr Popko said Ukrainian air defenses had shot down “up to a dozen” Russian drones.
Also late on Friday, a Russian rocket hit a residential area in the central city of Dnipro, killing a 14-year-old and four others, regional governor Sergiy Lisak said, adding that at least 21 others were wounded, including an eight-year-old… old and teenagers.
The wife and teenage daughter of a local police officer were pulled dead from the rubble, police said.
More than a dozen residential buildings, private houses and a medical facility were damaged in the attack.
A man and a woman were killed after a Russian drone dropped explosives on a village in the southern Kherson region, local prosecutors said, while two people in their 60s were killed in shelling in Kharkiv province in the northeast.
In the Kyiv region, which surrounds but does not include the capital, flying debris from a drone attack killed a woman, Ukraine’s Emergency Service said.
A 13-year-old boy was injured elsewhere in the region, the statement said.
Overnight, Russian forces fired a total of 91 drones and seven missiles into Ukrainian territory, Ukraine’s air force said Saturday in the latest of its regular media updates.
It said 44 of the drones were shot down.
In Russia, air defenses shot down 17 Ukrainian drones over four areas near the border, Moscow’s defense ministry said on Saturday.
Also, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, Moscow troops continued to enter the battlefield in Ukraine’s industrial east, capturing the village of Aleksandropol in the Donetsk region.
Russia has been waging a ferocious month-long campaign on Ukraine’s eastern front, gradually forcing Kiev to surrender territory.
But Russia has been struggling to push Ukrainian forces out of its Kursk border region since an invasion nearly three months ago.
