LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – Looking for a unique Halloween event? The TAMIU Chess Club combines spooky fun with strategy by hosting a chess tournament and carnival, complete with a haunted house, carnival games and more!
Club president Mateo Fernandez explains that chess can seem like a “scary” game for new players, but it’s all about the fun they aim to show through this event.
Registration will also be done on site before the start of the tournament. The tournament begins on Saturday, October 26, at 10am, followed by the carnival at 12pm. It will be held in the TAMIU Student Center (5201 University Blvd.). Team awards will be given for the elementary, middle and high school sections, with individual trophies for the top three players in each category.
For early registration email [email protected] or call 956-744-0403. Don’t miss the haunted house, costume contest and fun carnival games!
