Tallahasee, Florida (WCTV) – The alarming images of stray camps on the southern Talahassi caused the commissioners’ calls to change local rules in an attempt to break up.
Homeless camps are created inside the National Forest, behind strip malls and in the neighborhoods.
Rieltor Alan Balas lends several homes to camp. As he said he initially hesitated to speak, he joined the cause after a camp popped up to his feet from a few of his homes.

Balas said that the Sheriff’s office of Leon County did not do much to stop the camp, because the owner of the property where the man was camping did not complain.
Balas said more camps were beginning to form near his properties, including one behind the family dollar of the capital circle and the other in the forest near Church to Highway 20.
After asking his friends with real estate, Balas believes that his property values have sunk by 25%.
“We have to do something about it to do it safely for our families, our children and everyone else,” Balas said.

Balas said the problem is double: lax application and doors in the law. He said that only the owner of the property can call the law enforcement authorities, and sometimes property owners live elsewhere or are not particularly interested.
“The problem is that the law enforcement agencies will not go to these people and tell them that there is a problem in their property and gives them this opportunity. They say “apply the call code”. I am fully against the use of application of a law enforcement code, “Balas said.

Balas said the signs of “without penetration” helped some, and one camp cleared. But he also said that the camps just move to the next zone after one split.
Balas said he admits that there was no easy decision, but would like both urban and district commissioners to consider a law that makes these camps illegal, even in private property.
