Tallahassee Man Arrested in Student Housing Burglaries – Newsbreak

The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) made the arrest Daniel L. Wright III 32, in connection with a series of residential burglaries targeting student housing. Wright faces multiple charges, including residential burglary, armed burglary and grand theft of a firearm. He was taken into custody on January 17.

The investigation began after TPD patrol officers responded to multiple burglary calls at student rental properties in the 1600 block of Airport Drive, 200 block of North Lipona Road and 600 block of Kyle Street.

These cases are assigned to TPD’s Robbery Crime Unit (BCU) and patterns in the incidents are identified by the Crime Analyst Unit (CAU). Investigators note that all the crimes occurred during evenings and school breaks. After a thorough investigation, BCU detectives established probable cause to arrest Wright.

During the investigation, the following thefts were identified:

  • 1600 Block of Airport – Case No. 24-33190 (February 25, 2024)
  • 200 Block of North Lipona Road-Case No. 24-001775 (Nov. 25, 2024)
  • 1600 Block of Airport – Case No. 24-209370 (Dec. 8, 2024)
  • 600 Block of Kyle Street-Case #24-209370 (December 9, 2024)

Wright is charged with three counts of residential burglary, armed residential burglary, three counts of felony theft and grand theft of a firearm. He is currently in custody awaiting further court proceedings.
