A protest took place on the day of Presidents in Florida Capitol in support of the 50501 movement, which covers the nation.

The Event Was Sponsored by Multiple Organizations in the Tallahassee Community, Including The Tallahassee Community Action Committe (TCAC), Food Not Bombs (FNB), Rising Voices Collect (RVC) (SDS), Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO), occupies Florida and industrial workers around the world (IWW).

Joel Nunes, a member of FRSO, says sponsoring the protest on Monday was a way to fight the Trump administration.

“We want to fight Trump’s agenda,” Nunes said. “The members of our community are increasingly vulnerable to every political attack from Trump and one of the few things we can do right now is to protest.”

Hundreds of people have emerged to demonstrate support for the movement and protest 2025. Protesters bearing signs lined on Monroe Street in front of the historic Capitol and chanted: “Donald Trump is a traitor” and “Who keeps us safe? We keep us! “

Many also encouraged people to drive along Monroe Street and Appalachi to join the crowd.

The protests on Monday across the country were called the “Kings Day”. Talahasi was one of the many cities that protested, supporting the 50501 movement. According to the Instagram 50501 page, 15 protests were held on Monday and many others took place across the country.

50501 means “50 protests, 50 states, 1 day” and appeared on Reddit in response to the Trump administration’s actions since Trump returned to power four weeks ago. According to a press release published by the organization, they “require justice, transparency, accountability and termination of excessive execution.” Their first national protests took place on February 5, and more than 80 protests were organized in every country in America.

This is not the first time people have taken the Florida Capitol to protest. Since the beginning of the year, Tallahassee organizations have held three protests in Capitol, and many others have happened elsewhere in the city since Trump took office.

Alice Bostwick, a member of the SDS and a representative of the 50501 coalition, says that turnout on Monday shows the resistance against Trump’s agenda.

“The 50501 protests see community members who have never been protesting before they go out,” she said. “Being able to mobilize hundreds of community members over the past month shows the unpopular Trump agenda.”
